Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Event Description

The word shrove comes from the word shrive which means confess. It carries a sense of cleansing and repentance. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. In church tradition, it was a time to feast before the fast and penitence of the Lenten season. The feast would consist of the things that you would want to rid your house of for Lent such as eggs, flour/yeast, sugar and fat. The most common way to get rid of these was through pancakes. So, Shrove Tuesday began to be called Pancake Tuesday.

Let’s gather together to begin our Lenten season. It will be fun for the whole family. This event is FREE!! (A basket will be available for donations towards the dinner.)
